Doryoku Track bar’s philosophy of use & design

We designed this to be the best value bar on the market when it comes to weight, construction, design, add on options, price and total value. All bars are designed by scanning the OEM bumper bar/foam/support so that we can ensure the best fit and follow the existing shape. The track bar is intended to provide many performance benefits for track car applications (drag /road race) while allowing the user to customize the bar as they grow in the sport.

Custom Options

☆ Hidden Universal tow strap bracket

This welded bracket allows for universal tow straps to be bolted on. The Tow strap bracket can be placed on the driver or passenger side. We will verify your specs before fabrication.

☆ Dual Mini-hooks

1/4" thick steel dual hooks are an excellent choice for easy/fast tie-down for transport and dyno. Hooks can be faced outward at any angle but require a vertical slit in the bumper.

☆ Recessed CNC M12 tow bung

Welded CNC M12 bung allows for thread in style tow strap which is common on modern cars such as S2000, FRS BRZ, BMW, Corvette, Porsche, VW Audi sports cars. We can place this anywhere on the bar (passenger, driver, center behind license plate). Consulting will be provided before fab.

☆ Dual coating zinc + matte black powder

For those who want additional protection or just like a stealth color, powder coating matte black is durable & cost effective.

☆ Custom powder coating

I stock over 35 popular colors. Powder finishes are available in wrinkle, matte & gloss. Please note in "Special Instructions" what color you would like.

Engineering Design Notes

☆ The RSX bumper cover is shallow and does not provide much distance to the rear bulkhead. Rather than using steel tube and plate, we designed a steel box to help absorb impact. The boxed base is made of 10GA steel plate, laser cut and CNC bent/formed and TIG welded. See photo gallery of example.

☆ The 02-04 bumper extends almost 1" farther than the 05-06. Rather than making 1 bar to fit both bumpers, we made two different bars. This endures the bar fits tightly behind the bumper cover. We don't take shortcuts

☆ Rear diffuser mounts are built into the base bracket by featuring a M8 hole on each side of the bracket. We always try to add free value to our designs when there is no additional cost in manufacturing.

FAQ

Q1: What is the weight savings over stock?

A: Doryoku rear bar provides 42% - 5.4 lbs. weight savings.

It's not so much about how much weight is removed, what's more important in any track car is "where" the weight is removed. Anytime you can remove weight from areas beyond the wheel is important. This improves the car's natural balance & giving you the control to strategically add weight back in where it's most beneficial for your setup or race series. Q2: How much cutting is needed for dual mini-hooks?

A: The default position is with hooks facing down. This will require you to cut the 1/4 of the lower bumper valance off. The RSX bumper is very tall so you aren't cutting "half" the bumper, just the lower valance.

We can face the hooks 45* or straight back. This allows you to keep the full bumper but requires vertical slits to allow hooks to poke through the cover.

Q3: How much cutting is needed for tow strap bracket?

A: Tow strap bracket are often placed on driver side, away from the exhaust. This will require you make a horizontal cut in your bumper just for the strap to be pulled through. See ohoto of Eric Kutil's EG with tow strap bracket.

Another "stealth" option is to place tow strap bracket facing UP in the center of the bar behind the license plate. To access tow strap you would just remove your license plate & the strap can be pulled through and hidden behind the plate.

Q4: How much cutting is needed for M12 tow bung?

A: M12 bung is place on driver side away from the exhaust. You would need to cut a dime size hole in the bumper to access the M12 bung.

For 02-04, I could also place the M12 bung behind the license plate for a stealth location. This location will not work on the 05-06 bumper.

Q5: How do you mount rear aero/diffuser support rods?

A: The rear bar has 2 M8 holes built into the base bracket. Simply bolt on any support bracket or support rod. We recommend going with Professional Awesome Aero Fiber Rods .

Q6: Why replace the stock rear bar?

A: The two reasons would be for weight reduction & safety. OEM rear beam are one of the first items to rust away since it traps most of the rain, snow, and salt. Rust breaks down the welds & material which reduces strength & safety of the beam. Doryoku tubular bar is a direct replacement made of stronger material yet lighter & provides built in provisions for needs of track/enthusiast cars & can be customized further.

Q7: Powder coating is a free option on your front bar, but not on the rear bar?

A: Front bars are "closed tube" design so powder coat can be applied on all surfaces. Rear bar is "open tube" design which is harder to powder coat inside the tube whereas zinc plating submerges the bar in acid cleaning tank & plating tank to provide more coverage protection. I can apply powder coating directly over zinc for those who want to have rear bars match their front.
